PC and HTPC with the Integral 2

PCs are the most flexible — and most chaotic — HDMI sources there are: dozens of video modes, driver quirks, sleep/wake cycles that scramble window layouts, and protected playback on top. The Integral 2 was built with PC use squarely in mind, up to and including a dedicated HTPC mode.

Why put an Integral 2 behind a PC?

Every VESA mode up to 600MHz: all PC graphics modes within the bandwidth are supported, including ultra-high resolutions such as WQSXGA, QUXGA, QFHD and WQUXGA, next to standard 4K.
HTPC mode: a dedicated Config option for when Windows scrambles your display and icons after resuming from stand-by — the Integral 2 keeps presenting a stable display to the GPU so Windows never “loses” the monitor.
Hot-plug control: the source is forced to always see an active connection — no more resolution reshuffles every time the TV or AVR powers off.
Protected playback on older gear: streaming services in a browser or app require HDCP; the HDCP Doctor keeps that working through an HDCP 1.4-only display or AVR.
Calibration and analysis: live infoframe capture, custom HDR metadata injection and the public API/DLL package make the Integral 2 a small test bench for content creators and calibrators.

Setup steps

PC into an HDMI input; displays on the outputs (HDCP 1.x-only display on the TOP (Downscale) output).
EDID switch on Custom Use / BT and select a table matching the mode you want the GPU to drive — or sniff your actual monitor's EDID with “Read TV [TOP/BOT] EDID” in the GUI and upload it as a custom bank, so the GPU always sees that exact monitor even when it is off.
Enable HTPC MODE on the GUI's Config tab if windows and icons jump around after standby.
4K60 4:4:4 to a TV: most UHD TVs must be told first — on many Samsung TVs enable “UHD Color” under Settings > HDMI and label the input “PC” in the source menu; only then is 600MHz accepted. Similar switches exist on most brands (see Samsung's official support site or your TV maker's).

Do you need one for your PC?

Yes, if Windows keeps rearranging your desktop after standby, your GPU refuses the mode you want because of a mangled EDID chain, protected playback fails on older equipment, or you work with HDR metadata and infoframes professionally.
